Visitor Information

Select parks charge day-use parking fees. Purchase a daily parking permit for $5 from yellow machines at the parking entrances.

Parks are open from dawn to dusk.

Pets must be well-trained or kept on a leash under six feet. Pets are allowed to run free on the beach but must not interfere with other wildlife.

Yaquina Bay State Recreation Site

One of our favorite state parks near Newport, Yaquina Bay State Recreation Site is also home to a picturesque and historic lighthouse, open to the public on select days of the week. An outstanding natural area with rock quarries, bike through the spruce and pine forest or hike along the beach boardwalk with views of crashing ocean waves.

Ocean Shore State Recreation Area

Hike along the Oregon Coast Trail to stunning viewpoints to look across Newport’s sandy beaches and rocky shores of the Pacific Ocean. Visit vibrant tide pools, walk the beach, or challenge yourself on towering capes.

Agate Beach State Recreation Site

Wander along the beach looking for razor clams or catch a wave on a surfboard! Agate Beach is the perfect place to hunt for shells, splash in the surf, and enjoy the ocean breeze.

South Jetty on South Beach

Activities abound in South Beach State Park where thrill-seekers can horseback ride, surf, scuba-dive, windsurf, and participate in the ever popular fishing and clamming.
